The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an internationally recognised guide that measures language ability across six clear levels — from beginner to proficient user. It provides a structured and reliable way to understand what students can do in English at each stage of learning. The CEFR is widely used in Cambridge English and Oxford University Press courses, including TopUp Learning’s online programmes, to ensure consistent, measurable progress in all key skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar.
The framework is divided into three main stages — Basic User (A1–A2), Independent User (B1–B2), and Proficient User (C1–C2). Each level focuses on developing the language knowledge and confidence students need for study, travel, exams, and international communication. Through our structured online lessons and interactive classroom environment, students progress naturally from understanding simple everyday expressions to using English fluently in academic or professional contexts.
